At 10:00 pm on Saturday, September 6th, former Light and Life Foundation board member Amy Baumgartner will pedal into the mountains west of Salida, Colorado, to take on one of the most grueling endurance races in the U.S.—the Vapor Trail 125, a 125-mile, high-elevation backcountry mountain bike race. For Amy, biking has been a source of health, healing, growth, and friendship since 2006. But this race is more than a personal challenge—it’s an opportunity for connection and impact.
WHY AMY RIDES
Amy and her husband, Ryan, adopted their beloved son Mateo from Hogares Luz y Vida 7 years ago. They know firsthand the life-changing difference this special needs orphanage makes for children. Now, Amy is using her love of cycling to give back—inviting all of us to ride alongside her in spirit. (You can read more about Mateo's story here.)
“This isn’t just about finishing a race,” Amy says. “It’s about creating hope for the children of Luz y Vida.”
TRIPLE YOUR IMPACT
Two generous donors have stepped forward to match gifts up to $5,000 each. That means every dollar you donate today will be tripled toward completing the Valle Rosita Chronic Care Medical Unit.
Goal: $10,000 in matches unlocked
Impact: Every $1 = $3 for Luz y Vida’s children
